The Dept of Hematology was founded in 1972, it is national clinical research base of Homeopathy,  national clinical construction unit of key specialty of State Ministry of Health, key discipline and key specialty of 11th five-year plan of the state administration of Chinese medicine, hematopathy branch of Chinese National Medical Association, the leader of the cooperation group of the hematopathy of the State Administration of Chinese Medicine , the leader of aplastic anemia cooperation group of the national Chinese medicine, chief unit of the expert committee for aplastic anemia of Chinese medicine and western medicine committee, the key research laboratory of the state administration of traditional Chinese medicine of "qi nourishing and blood raising" treatment for aplastic anemia, and one of the first selected hospitals with dual qualification of bone marrow bank collection / transplantation selected by National Health Planning Committee in 2005 (the only  traditional Chinese medical hospital). The number of collection of hematopoietic stem cells ranks second in the country in the last three years. 

The department has 4 wards with 21 sterilized laminar flow chambers and 200 impatient beds in the two campuses. It is the largest diagnosis and treatment center of aplastic anemia in Zhejiang province, equipped with advanced instruments and third level laboratory of the State Administration of traditional Chinese medicine. The department establishes diagnosis and treatment center of aplastic anemia, bone marrow transplantation, lymphoma, leukemia, thrombocytopenia and 8 treating groups. It has distinctive features of traditional Chinese medicine and strong comprehensive strength and we are especially well-experienced in the diagnosis and treatment of various anemias such as aplastic anemia, myelodysplastic syndrome, hemolytic anemia, acute and chronic leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma thrombocytopenia, and hematopoietic stem cell transplantation.

The medical team has 90 staffs, including 3 doctoral supervisors, 9 master's supervisors, 2 academic experience inheritance instructors of national outstanding experts, 4 academic experience heirs of national outstanding Chinese medicine experts, 9 doctors and chief physicians and 10 professional researchers.
